Violet "Vi" V. Carney

Violet V. Carney (nee Perkins) of Westmont.  “Vi” passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022, at the age of 85.  Beloved wife of the late George A. Carney.  Loving mother of Glen (Diane) and Kyle.  Proud grandmother of Lauren C Carney.  She was predeceased by her parents Albert and Hazel Perkins as well as siblings Doris Comerford, Margaret (Sis) Shipman, Albert (Bud) Perkins, Charlotte Keen, Esther Firth, and Lena Hasenpat.  Known affectionately as “Aunt Bitsy” by her many nieces and nephews.

Prior to marriage, Vi graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1955.  She was an operator for Bell Telephone Company.  For many years, she was a devoted library, IPI, and lunch aide at Strawbridge School in Westmont.  She was an accomplished bowler and was a 50-year member of various bowling leagues in South Jersey.  Many times she scored well over 200, with her highest game reaching 269.  She always stated, “I don’t aim, I just throw the ball.”

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, Nov. 10 ^th from 10 – 11 AM at JACKSON FUNERAL HOME, 308 Haddon Ave., Haddon Township, NJ, followed by her funeral service at 11 AM.  Interment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
