Thomas E. Holmes

August 12, 1959 — April 19, 2020

Tom passed away on April 19, 2020, at the age of 60, of Newfield, NJ, formerly of Haddon Township, NJ.

Loving son of the late John E. & Gloria Holmes. Beloved father of Brandi Simkins-Sommeling (Shannon), Tina Marie Holmes and his step-son Alan Kibler (Gabriela).  Proud grandfather of Adrianna, Nicholas and Christopher.  Dear brother Patricia Weaver (Francis), Arlene Cella (Thomas), William Holmes, Kathleen Holmes, the late Marion Holmes and Maureen Burns (Martin).

Tom graduated Haddon Township High School Class of 1977. He was a long time employee of Broadway Glass in Pennsauken and A&A Glass in Fairview. Tom loved all Philly sports, horseshoes, darts, wiffleball and Rock & Roll. We will always be grateful to him for taking such good care of Mom Gloria for many years.

Tom was:

"a man that loved Rock and Roll. Beatles, Genesis, Kansas and Floyd

a man that would break down song lyrics and explain what they meant

a man who challenged you in a good way

a blue collar guy who mastered his trade

a deep thinker who wasn’t satisfied with shallow answers

a man with integrity who in his core was caring and loving

a man who loved to talk but hated when the phone rang (especially during a game)

a man who loved to have fun but rarely wanted to leave the house

a man who had an amazing head of hair

a man that loved all kinds of sports, especially Philly teams

a man that could make up a game with only a stick and a pine cone

a man that loved horseshoes, darts and wiffle ball games

a man that loved his family and pets

a man that was passionate in his beliefs

a man who was inclusive of those who were excluded.

Thanksgivings at the house were made up of “misfits”, but that brought him and the guests joy

crab legs and homemade chicken wing nights were special occasions

a man with a smirk always followed by a smile"

We will love and miss you forever.  Save us all a spot on your wiffle ball team in heaven.  We are way overdue for a big game!

A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
