(nee Rowand)
Sarah “Sally” E. Kolody of Bellmawr, NJ, formerly of Audubon, NJ, went home to be with the Lord, with her loving family by her side, on March 3, 2026, at the age of 75.
Beloved wife of Daniel A. Kolody. Loving mother of Timothy D. Kolody and Jessica S. Kolody. Dear sister of Charlotte Fortescue (the late Charles) and Carol Rowand. Preceded in death by her parents Charles “Alfred” & Stella “Edith” (nee Taylor) Rowand. Also survived by several nieces & nephews.
Sally earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from The King’s College in Briarcliff Manor, NY, and a master’s degree from West Chester University. Her love for music was evident throughout her life. She played the piano and cello, and, most of all, enjoyed singing and teaching music. She had an extraordinary gift for teaching and was a dearly loved music teacher for over 30 years in the Haddon Township, Audubon, and Bellmawr public school districts. She also shared her love of music by teaching private piano and voice lessons.
Sally had a deep passion for teaching children about Jesus, a calling that began in her early teens through Child Evangelism Fellowship. Throughout her 60 years as a member of Haddon Heights Baptist Church, she enthusiastically used her CEF training to teach Sunday School, Awana, and Vacation Bible School, which she directed for many years. She also served as director of the choir, orchestra, and handbells, and organized many other musical offerings to the Lord. In all that she did, Sally lived with a humble servant’s heart, always pointing the glory back to God.
Sally had many artistic interests. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, decorating, baking, and was a talented seamstress. She loved reading, playing games, ice cream and chocolate, planning parties, traveling, and learning new things—but most of all, she treasured time with her family. Her joyful, fun-loving spirit made every gathering brighter.
Sally was an extraordinary woman who loved sacrificially, served joyfully, and led intentionally. She bravely fought cancer for over 18 years and rarely complained about all she endured. She was a fierce prayer warrior and a fervent student of God’s Word. The joy of the Lord was truly the source of her strength. Her testimony of faith brought comfort and encouragement to many, and her kindness refreshed the hearts of those around her.
Her life demonstrated that God is real and trustworthy. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Matthew 25:21)
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Saturday, March 14th from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Haddon Heights Baptist Church, 300 Station Avenue, Haddon Heights, NJ, where her Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:30 AM.
Interment will be private.
