Ruth V. Hoover

(nee Spitler) On November 10, 2022, at home in Haddon Twp., at the age of 92.

Predeceased by her husband William E. Hoover, her sister Janet H. Martin and nephew Steven W. Harris.  Loving mother of William R. Hoover (Suzanne), Mark E. Hoover and Scott D. Hoover (Walter).  Loving grandmother of Jan, Nicole, Michael, William and Ron.  Great grandmom of Logan, Connor, Fayona and Hudson.

Ruth graduated from Collingswood H.S. class of 1947.  She worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone, worked at Stone and Webster Engineering and Bayards Chocolate House, where she was the “Chocolate Figure Specialist”. Ruth also volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels for the Salvation Army for many years. She was one of the first HTAA Girls Softball Coaches.  Ruth served two terms as Edison School PTA President and was most proud of getting the school library established. She worked hard to save the 6 ^th grade class when enrollment had declined.  Ruth was a big supporter of Haddon Twp. Sports, where she was one of the fans and original member of the wrestling team “Grappling Grannies.”

Funeral Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Ruth’s memory may be made to Hope Pantry, 200 Emerald Ave., Westmont, NJ 08108.
