Obituary

Robin Kerr Janes, on June 23, 2026, of Avalon and Westmont, took her last sweet breath while doing what she loved- walking in nature with family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Bob, children Maggie (Craig) Strimel, Kate (Erik), and Ben (Sarah), siblings Deborah, Mary, and Bob, grandchildren James, Sarah, Alma, Jack, and Lily, and grand-furbabies Zoe, Zuzu, Kiki, and Daisy.

Born in Rochester, NY, Robin’s life was marked by kindness and care for others. She studied at Alfred University and West Chester State University, and then served as a special education teacher in the Philadelphia school system before leaving to become a full-time homemaker and mom. When her children were older, she held a variety of part-time jobs over the years. The one she most enjoyed was her roughly five years working as a library assistant at Haddonfield Memorial High School, where she shared her love of supporting young people and books. She was a fabulous mother, who was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Robin spent her free time caring for family, volunteering in the service of many causes and engaging in political activism.

She was always ready to listen, whether you were a friend or stranger, offering her compassionate presence to everyone she encountered. She was extremely thoughtful, willing to drop everything to lend a hand. She was the best word game player, but also the most humble. An eternal optimist, Robin never had a mean thing to say, was quick to compliment, and was forever curious.

Robin cared for the earth as much as she cared for people. Wherever she went, she never hesitated to pick up trash or pick up a tiny caterpillar to help it to safety. She is deeply missed, and her family sends her their sincere blessings as she embarks on her next chapter in this mysterious universe.

Services will be held on Friday, July 10th, visitation from 1 – 2 PM at Jackson Funeral Home, 308 Haddon Ave, Haddon Township, NJ, where funeral services will follow at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Cathedral Kitchen, 1514 Federal St., Camden, NJ 08105 https://cathedralkitchen.org or Pinelands Alliance, 17 Pemberton Rd., Southampton Township, NJ 08088 https://pinelandsalliance.org Arrangements by Jackson Funeral Home, Haddon Township, NJ www.jacksonfh.net
