Obituary

Mark, of Haddon Township, NJ, passed away on April 21, 2026, at the age of 71. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara J. Andrew (nee Mihalick), and is the proud father of Collin M. Andrew (Christine) and Hunter M. Andrew both of Haddon Township, NJ. Beloved brother of Robert Andrew (Susan), Carol Burrows (Robert) and the late Janet Andrew. Also survived by many nieces & nephews and his furry companion Max.

Mark was excitedly awaiting twin granddaughters.

Mark was born and raised in Collingswood, where he developed a lifelong love of sports and community. He attended Garfield Elementary School and could often be found playing pick-up basketball at Newbie Elementary School. From an early age, Mark had a natural drive to be involved—no matter the sport or activity, he always found a way to contribute.

In high school, Mark discovered his passion for football, beginning on the sidelines and ultimately turning that interest into a lifelong commitment to officiating. This role would become a defining part of his life. Alongside athletics, music formed a central part of Mark’s identity. As a student, he frequently served as an MC at school events, bringing energy and personality while curating soundtracks full of funk—sometimes to the dismay of faculty, but always true to himself.

After graduating, Mark worked a variety of jobs—including roofing, bartending, and repossessing cars—to put himself through Trenton State College. Upon earning his degree, he began a dedicated career in education, serving in several school districts before finding his professional home in the Lenape Regional High School District. There, he taught business and later became a guidance counselor, impacting countless students over the years.

In 1986, Mark met Barbara, the love of his life. They were married in 1989 and made their home in Haddon Township, where they raised their two sons, Collin and Hunter, surrounded by the best neighbors in the world.

Mark’s passion for football only deepened over time, both as a coach and an official. He spent much of his officiating career at the collegiate level and was honored to serve as an NFL Replacement Official during the 2012 season—an achievement he carried with humility and pride.

A strong advocate for staying active, Mark was also an avid cyclist. At his peak, he regularly rode over 100 miles a week at an impressive pace. His love of mechanics and performance extended beyond cycling to cars; if it had four wheels and an engine, Mark was interested. He could often be found in the driveway, meticulously maintaining family vehicles and keeping them in pristine condition. Later in life, he and his brother Bob shared a special enjoyment of owning and driving their own Porsche vehicles.

Mark lived with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the things he loved. As he often said, “There’s only so much oil in the ground.”

Relatives & friends are invited to attend his visitation, Saturday, May 16th from 9:30 – 11:30 AM at 1st Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield, 20 East Kings Hwy, Haddonfield, NJ 08033, followed by his funeral service at 12 noon. Interment will be private. Family requests in lieu of flowers contributions in Mark’s memory be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 223 W. Jackson Rd., Suite 350, Chicago, IL 60606.
