Lyn & Michael Sharp

Lyn K. (nee Kelly) Passed away on January 15, 2019, at the age of 80 and her husband Michael V. Sharp passed away on January 26, 2019 at the age of 77, both of Haddon Township, NJ.

Parents of Kelly M. Sharp and Christopher W. Sharp. Also survived by many good friends.

Married for over 50 years, Lynn and Mike Sharp were truly lifetime companions. We celebrate them being reunited.

They met in Michigan, and moved to Chicago, IL and Indianapolis, IN before arriving on the east coast. They made their home in Westmont in 1980, and remained in that home until just a couple of years ago. They have been members of Holy Saviour since their move.

Lyn enjoyed helping kids, spending her summers off from school teaching kids how to swim, and serving as a crossing guard in retirement. She retired from Blackwood School District, and she is remembered fondly by her students. They loved the scratch and sniff stickers she gave out.

Lyn loved to bake, and many that knew her benefited from her passion and skill, most notably the Westmont Fire Department. Her Baked Oatmeal recipe even appeared in an issue of Bon Appetit in 2005. Lyn's skills and passion in the kitchen carried over to all aspects of a meal. She participated in a gourmet club for many years, and loved being the hostess with the mostest.

Lyn loved the water and was happiest by the pool, the ocean in Long Beach Island, or by the lake at her Uncle Bud's cabin in Michigan.

She liked to stay busy, and often wondered after she retired how she ever found the time to work. Lyn's circle of friends is strong and large. She had an ability to connect with people that left strangers giving her their life story, and leaving friends.

While Lyn enjoyed staying busy, Mike loved the opportunity for a pajama day, and found great enjoyment in a day of rest. He enjoyed the company of a good book/story, a cup of coffee and a cozy blanket. His years of being a technical writer bred an appreciation for the written word.

Mike was musical, and spent many years playing the guitar, entertaining himself as well as his family and friends.. You could often find classic rock, like the Eagles on his car radio when he wasn't listening to an audio book.

Mike has also been supported by a strong circle of friends. His wry sense of humor will be remembered fondly, as well as his way with words.

Those that knew him well knew that he didn't just live in his house, he loved it. From the early days when he would work on his VW's in the garage to his later years simply enjoying the view of the woods backing up to the backyard and the breeze on the front porch, Mike's home was his.

Relatives and friends will gather on Saturday, February 2, 2019  from 10 – 11 AM  at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish HOLY SAVIOR CHURCH, 50 Emerald Ave., Westmont, NJ, followed by their Memorial Mass at 11 AM.

Interment will be private.
