Obituary

Laurice Tekla Humphrey (nee Tederous), 91, of Voorhees, New Jersey (formerly of Cherry Hill, New Jersey) passed peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday, June 12, 2026. Born in Fredonia, New York, on April 24, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria Tederous. Laurice was a graduate of Fredonia High School and attended the Rochester Institute of Technology.

After raising her sons, Laurice held several positions in retail, developed a locally renowned candy gift basket venture, and, switching careers, ultimately retired from the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission in 2015 after 30 years of service. In her retirement, she enjoyed trips to the Jersey shore and Delaware beaches, lunch and dinner dates and hosting parties with family and friends, and she continued to brighten everyone’s days with her fabulous baskets. But her primary passion has always been her family.

Along with her parents, Laurice was predeceased by her sisters Irene Tederous and Roselle Tederous, her sister and brother-in-law Rosalie and Bill Kingsley, her brother Nelson Tederous, and her brother-in-law Jack Miller. She is survived by her loving sons Scott J. Humphrey (Kim Moore) and Kevin J. Humphrey (Melinda Gillies), adoring granddaughters Melanie Yacoub (Ghaith Yacoub), Victoria Humphrey (Ed Condon), and Jamie Humphrey (Shane Whelihan), cherished sister Elaine Miller, dear sister-in-law Joan Tederous, and several beloved nieces and nephews, as well as her caring and devoted friends Siouxzen Whitecloud, Carole Timmons, and Joanne Morelli.

Friends and family are invited for a visitation Tuesday, June 23, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church, 1439 Springdale Road, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where a funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Laurice’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105, or via www.stjude.org/give.
