Joseph M. Scheurer Sr. December 4, 1936 ~ August 22, 2026 Joseph M. Scheurer Sr., age 89, of Haddonfield, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. 

Born in the Kensington section of Philadelphia on December 4, 1936, he was the beloved son of Albert and Mary Scheurer (née Chingo). Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Tetyana “Tanya” Scheurer; his children, Joe Scheurer Jr., Brad Scheurer, and Gwen Klaus (Pete); and his beloved grandchildren, Ty, Ben, Gabe, and Charlie. He is also survived by his wife’s family, Dima (Viki), Olga (Sergey), and their children, Mira, Seva, and Daniel. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Dorothy Scheurer (married 1961-2006) and his brother, John. 

Joe was a proud graduate of Mastbaum Vocational High School and Temple University, where he earned a degree in accounting. His entrepreneurial spirit was evident from an early age. At just 13 years old, he began working as a pinsetter at a bowling alley, earning ten cents a game. His ambition and strong work ethic continued throughout his life. In 1961, after working multiple jobs, Joe joined his father Albert, working at a retail beer distributor on Frankford Ave. In 1969, Joe acquired the Pabst Blue Ribbon franchise and became the exclusive Pabst wholesaler in Philadelphia. His company, Nation Brands Distributing Co., grew extensively before he retired from the beer business in 1996. Always an entrepreneur at heart, he later worked at Harbison Beverage and eventually started his own tax accounting business. 

Outside of work, Joe enjoyed spending time on his beloved boat, “Cool Blue,” and at his home in Ocean City, NJ, with family and close friends. He was a devoted grandfather who rarely missed his grandsons’ football games, often being the first one on the bleachers to cheer them on. Joe had a playful spirit and loved magic, card games, and telling a good joke. He always seemed to have a deck of cards nearby and a story or trick ready to share. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved cat, Oscar. 

Joe will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, sense of humor, and, most of all, his love for his family and friends. He leaves behind a lifetime of accomplishments, laughter, and cherished memories that will remain with all those who knew and loved him.
