John passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the age of 55, of Westmont, NJ, formerly of Collingswood, NJ. Dear son of Helen Wapenski (nee Inglis) of Mt. Laurel, NJ and the late Alexander “Al” Wapenski. Beloved husband of Dawn C. (nee Veevers). Loving father of Jacie Wapenski and Logan Wapenski. Brother of Leigh Ann Pitchon of Los Angeles, CA and brother-in-law of Debra Veevers. Also survived by his nephew Wyatt Stark and niece Rebecca Pitchon.
John was a US Marine Corps. Veteran proudly serving from 1986 – 1992. He worked for Collingswood Board of Education as their Head Painter in all of their schools. John was known as “The Dryer Whisperer” and was loved by all he served. He never met an appliance he couldn't fix, unless it was a Samsung! His passion was to eradicate dryer fires in local towns. At home, you could always find John playing frisbee with his beloved dog Maxine, before her passing in June. Or being the true Browncoat he was, watching the TV show Firefly. He loved motorcycles and was so proud of the chopper he built and dedicated to his father.
