George M. Fuchs

George passed on December 24, 2019 surrounded by his loving family and entered into heaven’s gates, of Mantua, NJ, formerly of Oaklyn, NJ, at the age of 86.

Dear father of Cynthia M. Settles (Steven) of Haddon Township, NJ, Theresa M. Mitchell (Walter) of Barnsboro, NJ, and Lisa D. Riley (Steven) of Mantua, NJ.  Brother of the late John “Jack” Fuchs and Elizabeth Whalen (nee Fuchs).  Grandfather to Kierstin M. Kratchwell (nee Mitchell) (Joe), Amarie C. Mitchell, Elisha M. Mitchell, Shaun S. Riley, Erin L. Riley, Eric G. Riley, Erin L. Settles, Kevin P. Settles (Devon) and Bridget H. Settles.  Great grandfather of Riley Michelle Settles. Pre-deceased by Ursula Augusta Charlotte Fuchs (nee Hoffman).

George was a 3 letter athlete at Collingswood High School.  He was awarded the Most Outstanding Athlete of the Year award.  George was also inducted in the Collingswood Athletic Hall of Fame.  He went on to play AAA baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies.  He served in the United States Army in Germany and transferred to the United States Navy, where he served and was honorably discharged.  He continued to work for the government at Lakehurst Naval Air Base as Planner/Estimator for 37 years before retiring.  George was an avid Philadelphia sports fan:  Sixers, Phillies, Eagles and Flyers, he loved them all.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Saturday, Feb. 1 ^st , 2020 from 9:30 to 11 AM at JACKSON FUNERAL HOME, 308 Haddon Avenue, Haddon Township, NJ, followed by his Funeral service at 11 AM.

Interment Harleigh Cemetery, Camden, NJ.
