Gail D. Harris

(nee Dougherty), age 78 of Haddon Township, NJ on March 10, 2022 after a long illness, at home surrounded by family.

Beloved daughter of the late Henry J. and E’lise V. Dougherty. Devoted mother of Allyson and her husband Richard Dobbs of Jenkintown, PA and Melissa Greeney of Portland, OR. Proud and loving grandmother of Vincent and Alexandra Dobbs. Dear sister of Faith Dougherty and Mary Ellen Hanling. She is also survived by 3 nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and devoted and loving friends whom she cherished.

Gail graduated from Collingswood High School in 1961 where she was later inducted into the Hall of Fame for playing on the State Championship Field Hockey Team. She graduated from Beaver College (now Arcadia University) in Glenside, PA in 1965 with a BS in Education. After graduation, she immediately started teaching elementary school. She spent 32 years teaching 2 ^nd grade in Oaklyn, NJ where she went on to become a Reading Recovery Specialist, taught summer school, and tutored many students. After her retirement there in 2002, she worked for the Haddon Township Board of Education as an elementary school substitute teacher. She was a lifelong member of the NEA and the NJEA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Monday, March 14 ^th from 10:30 to 11:30 am at JACKSON FUNERAL HOME, 308 Haddon Ave., Haddon Township, NJ, where family and friends will be invited to honor and share memories of Gail at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gail’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
