Frank passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the age of 73, of Haddon Township, NJ, formerly of South Philadelphia. Beloved husband of 45 years to Mary Rita (neé D’Alessandro). No one knew more about local politics on both sides of the Walt Whitman Bridge than Frank Monzo. He was a patriot who served in the Army ROTC and the Reserves, a successful businessman, and a Democrat who believed in civic duty and the power of politics to do good.
He quarterbacked campaigns in Philadelphia from McGovern for President to Tom Foglietta for Congress for whom he became a full-time advisor. He was a Philadelphia Committeeman, PA State Committeeman, Philadelphia Ward Chairman, and Interim Ward leader. Frank owned and operated Kimco Green Pest Control, and he was the COO of Computer Methods Corp. for over 30 years.
Frank Monzo was involved with the business of life as a political mentor, campaign manager, and organizer. The joyful side of Frank's nature could be seen marching down Broad Street as he marshaled both the Italian American and New Year’s Day parades in Philadelphia.
For the last twenty years, he was a champion of Haddon Township, proud of his adopted home and the growth he helped it achieve. He was the President of the Haddon Twp. Democratic Club and Municipal Co-Chair for the Democratic Party of Camden County.
Whether he was running a campaign, organizing a family celebration or a reunion for Bishop Neumann HS Alumni Committee, he could both see the big picture and then with laser-like focus, attend to the smallest details necessary to accomplish the goal.
Frank was a family man—important to his own family and an essential part of many other families as a godfather, trusted friend, advisor, and confidant.
He is survived by his wife, Mary-Rita, with whom he shared a lifetime of politics, travel and baseball, his daughter Kim, who considered her father her best friend, his son, Frank, and grandchildren, Hannah and Frankie who is a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps.
Frank was among the longest season ticket holders in Philadelphia Phillies history holding his tickets for 53 seasons. He was an avid collector and dealer of sports and political memorabilia.
Frank left an indelible mark on many peoples’ lives and institutions. His absence will be felt this year and in election years and baseball seasons to come. A passionate advocate for animals, contributions in his memory can be made to: Main Line Animal Rescue and Voorhees Animal Orphanage.
