(nee Lakis) Erasmia passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, of Haddonfield, NJ, at the age of 89.
Beloved wife of the late Richard K. Smith. Loving mother of Stephanie K. Coolahan (Gregory) of Cherry Hill, NJ and Christopher G. Smith (Andrea Klein) of Cherry Hill, NJ. Dear sister of the late James Lakis, Emmanuel Lakis and George Lakis. Proud grandmother of Kelsey, Evan, Justin, Matthew and Abigail.
Erasmia was proud of her Greek heritage and loved her family dearly. The youngest of 4 children, Erasmia grew up with her three older brothers in Cambridge, Massachusetts and spent much of her time enjoying the cultural opportunities in Harvard Square and the city of Boston. Although she later spent time living in California, New York and New Jersey, her heart always remained with the city of Boston. Erasmia, fondly known as “Ras”, worked as a secretary for Northeastern University and later at Hanscom Air Force Base until her marriage to Richard. She then cared for her own family as a loving homemaker and mother of two. She later opened and operated her own successful retail business for many years. Erasmia enjoyed crafting, sewing, music, cooking, bowling, reading and making memories with her grandchildren. She was a dear friend to many.
Funeral services will be private.
