(Nee Vanderhoof) age 85 of Haddon Township, NJ passed away peacefully with family by her side, on April 15, 2017 after a brief illness.
Beloved wife of Albert Dart. Loving mother of Nancy Orlando of Willistown Twp, PA and Albert "Skip" Dart of Alpharetta, GA. Dear sister of Doris Iverson of Holiday, FL. Proud grandmother of Alex Dart and Matthew Dart. Great grandmother of Devin Dart. Also survived by many cherished Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces & Nephews and Cousins.
Betty was the daughter of the late Harold Vanderhoof and Cornelia (Bolton); and was born in their family's home in Boonton, NJ on November 18, 1931. Betty graduated from Boonton High School and was employed by Boonton National Bank. Afterwards, she was hired as Credit manager for Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morris County, NJ. She attended church at St. John’s Episcopal church in Boonton where she married the love of her life, Al Dart on June 30, 1962.
Together they lived in many places for Al's job, including, New Orleans, LA.; Coronado, CA; Pascagoula, MS; Groton, CT.; Newport News, VA; settling in Haddon Twp., NJ. While her children were in elementary school Betty work as reading aide at their school, Clyde S. Jennings School. After the children were in high school, Betty was employed as a bookkeeper for CCW Rubber Stamp Company in Cherry Hill, NJ.
For over 30 years, as an Election Official she enjoyed greeting people and signing them in to vote at their local polling venue.
Betty led a life of love and the Golden rule. Never complained about anything, nor muttered an unkind word about anyone! She cherished spending time with her family, and friends, and always found the good in all people and was loved by all who knew her. She had an easy sense of humor and liked to tell clean jokes! She enjoyed going to musicals and concerts with her daughter. The pinnacle concert was when her daughter surprised her with 2nd row tickets to see Josh Groban. Betty also like doing crossword puzzles and word search, playing bingo, slot machines, scratch off lottery tickets.
She loved watching Fixer Upper, The Property Brothers, Hallmark movies, Say Yes to the Dress, and game shows! Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, The Price is Right, were her favorites, and she adored those funny little Whammies on Press Your Luck. Betty's family is grateful to all the staff members at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Camden, NJ for the kind medical care to Betty and family support.
Family & friends are invited to attend her viewing Friday, April 21, 2017 from 9:30-10:30 AM.
Funeral service will follow at approximately 1 PM at Saint Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, 689 Sugartown Road, Malvern, PA 19355.
