Ed passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 24th, with his children by his side, at the age of 88, longtime resident of the Emerald Hills Section of Haddon Twp., NJ.
Born and raised in Gloucester, NJ, he had been a resident of Haddon Twp. for 50 yrs. Ed was a US Navy Veteran serving from 1954 to1962 as a troop carrier. He sailed the Atlantic Ocean 48 times in 2 years on the USS General H.W. Butner. He was awarded the Navy Occupational Service Medal, Good Conduct and the National Defense Medals. Ed started his career at RCA in Cherry Hill. While working in Cherry Hill he met his wife, Sandi, whom he married in1965. They honeymooned in the Pocono’s and moved into Reading Manor Apartments in Gloucester. He also worked at Dupont in Carney’s Point as an Account Executive for 30 years until he retired in 2002. Then worked part time for Dupont as a payroll consultant for 10 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer "Jena" Salisbury and her husband, Brent of Haddon Twp.; his son, Jeffrey "Jeff" Waddington of Erial, NJ; his brother, Joseph "Joey" Waddington of New York, his three grandchildren, Ryan and Sara Waddington, Nolan Salisbury, and his four-legged canine companions, Jake and Parker. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Sandi Waddington (nee Metts); his parents Albert & Gertrude (nee McCully), brothers, Albert Waddington, sisters, Nanette Levins, and Teresa Kuzmunich. His other canine companions, Moses, Fonzi, Tinker and Max.
Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, vacationing down the shore, going on cruises, fishing, crabbing, and going to the beach. He loved entering contests and would win lots of prizes for himself and his family. Ed enjoyed playing the lottery especially scratch off tickets, his Coors Light Beer, watching the Phillies & Eagles games and volunteering his time as an Umpire for local Haddon Twp. baseball teams.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date with interment to take place at the Haddonfield Baptist Cemetery in Haddonfield.
