David A. Luca, age 55, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Oaklyn, NJ, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Christiana Care Hospital. Born at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, NJ, on April 22, 1968 to Nancy and Salvatore Luca.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Tina (nee Reeve). He was the loving father of Jason Luca and his wife Vicki (nee Marshall) of Newark, DE. He was also the very proud grandfather to Harper. Dave is preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Luca, his step-father John "Jack" McHugh and his sister, Roseann Luca.
Dave graduated from Haddonfield High School in 1986. He began to volunteer as a firefighter with Oaklyn Fire Department in 1997 followed by being named the Camden County Fire Police Chief for many consecutive years. He went on to work for AAA Mid-Atlantic for over 31 years as an insurance claims adjustor, which he truly enjoyed. Outside of work and the firehouse, you could find Dave attending all of his son’s baseball games, taking Jason out for adventures on their dirt bikes, camping with childhood friends, or sitting at Crystal Lake Diner chatting with friends over coffee. He loved being a husband and a dad, as it was what he considered his biggest accomplishment.
Dave will be truly missed by his wife, son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, Cousin Rick, Aunt Peg, furry companions (Jager and Harley), and countless lifelong friends and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation, Friday, October 13, 2023 from 10 – 11 AM at Jackson Funeral Home, 308 Haddon Ave., Haddon Twp., NJ, where his Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Harleigh Cemetery, Camden, NJ.
