Daniel L. Licardo

August 21, 1945 — February 11, 2025

Dan passed peacefully into eternal rest on February 11, 2025 with his family by his side, at the age of 79. He had been in ailing health these past few years.

Dan was the second of three children born to Anthony and Rose (Leo) Licardo. He attended Gloversville Schools and participated in Little League and Basketball in high school. He was voted "Best Dancer" by his senior class; thereafter, his musical journey began. Following graduation, his passion for entertaining would eventually change the course of his life forever...

Dan served in The National Guard and at- tended FMCC. He was very versatile in his talents working as a Carpenter, Manager at Kelly Lumber, a Longshoreman and Tugboat Cook, and a Blackjack Dealer in New Jersey just to name a few; however, he found his niche as a Realtor and Property Manager excelling at both for the next 30 years. Yet, it was the music that remained his passion and his greatest accomplishment.

A self- taught drummer, Dan's skills as well as his outstanding falsetto voice labeled him as one of the most respected musicians in the area. His love for music was a family legacy... Dan, his brother, Jim, and cousin, Salvatore Leo, started as The Excels in 1964. As they became successful, Dan's father was quoted as saying, "this is Like A Dream!" In 1966, they recorded "Like A Dream" on Decca records. "Some Kind of Life" followed and was released on Capitol Records. It was then they changed their name to The Ashley Brothers. A short break found them united again in 1974 with Dan and Jim as Act 2. They were a weekend  sensation. Shortly thereafter, their cousin, Steve DeSimone completed the trio as Act 3.

In addition, a performance at The World's Fair in '64 put them on the map. The guys drew crowds from the Tri- County area and beyond. The rest is history...

Throughout the years, Dan enjoyed trips to the shore with his children, summer vacations/reun- ions at his in-laws on The St. Lawrence River, many trips to the casino's and racetrack, and his love of cars from Lincolns to his Porsche. Dan knew how to travel in style!!

Shared memories with his children, grandchildren and family were his greatest joy. He was very proud of his son, "Master Dan" who served his country as a Navy SEAL for 15 years. A special moment  was  his  father/daughter  dance, "Unforgettable"  with, Marissa, at her wedding; a song they cherished together since she was two.  Katriane  loved breakfasts with her dad as a kid on the weekends; pancakes  and  french toast  were their favorites!! His dad's infamous sauce and meatballs and mom's Saratoga salads were a Sunday staple in the Licardo home. Dan treasured his relationship with both his siblings. They were very close and loyal to one another. The family unit represented how all families should love and support one another... Dan was fiercely protective of his family. If you needed anything, he was there. If you crossed the line, you knew where you stood...

Special thanks to St. Mary's Independent & Retirement Living Facility who provided great care for him. He was a resident  favorite  and popular on every level. Kathy, and their daughters were his caregivers throughout his time of need. Dan was predeceased by his parents and cousins, Sal and Steve. He leaves to treasure his memory his son, Daniel Licardo, daughters Marissa (Nick) Prochorenko and Katriane Licardo and fiance, Mike Cox, 3 grandchildren, Ronin Licardo and Lucas and Olivia Prochorenko, his brother, Jim (Mary) and sister, Barbara Licardo, nieces Ryan and Ashley Licardo and Evonne Stevens and her daughter, Alicia, and Jodi (Gary) Bazzani and several cousins.

In keeping with Dan's wishes, there was no viewing nor funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held with immediate family only. Contributions in his memory would be appreciated to The  Children's  Heart Foundation,  5  Revere Drive. 1 Northbrook Place, Suite 200, Northbrook Place, IL 60062 in honor of his grandson, Lucas. In addition, The SEAL Legacy Foundation, 2110 Baca Raton Drive, Building B, Suite 102, Austin, TX 78747 or seallegacy.org to support his son, Daniel.

Dan will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He'll be "Walking in Rhythm" reuniting with Sal and Steve as they form a new band in heaven. It will be "Like A Dream" once again...
