Thanks to God for a long, enriched life, Carol (neé Thomson) passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023, at the age of 96, of Cherry Hill, NJ, after suffering a recent health crisis in late August, from which she was not able to overcome.

Carol was born to Everard Thomson and Irma (nee Spencer) in Philadelphia on February 3, 1927.  Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund L. Mayo and her sister, Claire Crossman, and her brother John D. Thomson.  She is survived by her three children, Philip of Goldsboro, NC, Carol Lee of Trappe, PA and Andrew of Westmont, NJ, as well as her 8 grandchildren.

Carol grew up in Cedarville, NJ where her father was a minister in the local church.  Carol attended, and graduated from a private high school in Staunton, VA.  She was married in 1951 and had 3 children.  After the birth of her children Carol attended Glassboro State College (Now Rowan University) and obtained her Master’s Degree in Music.  She was self-employed as a private piano teacher for many years thereafter.  Carol also was an organist and choir director for Trinity Presbyterian Church in Cherry Hill, NJ, for many years.  Most recently in First Presbyterian Church of Somerdale for 30 years, until her retirement in 2016.  She was an avid reader, and enjoyed music, politics, history, and talking with her friends and family often.  Her favorite pastimes were reading and crosswording.
