(nee Tiné) Brenda passed peacefully with her family by her side on December 10, 2024, at the age of 63, of Westmont, NJ. Beloved daughter of the late Paul & Therese Tiné and Paul’s second wife, Patricia M. Tiné. Loving wife of 37 years to Todd J. Jarger. Proud mother of Steven Jarger (Julie) of Severn, MD and Grace Jarger-Nelson (Max) of Maple Shade, NJ. Dear sister of Frank Tiné (Late wife Ruthi Tiné) (Judy), Patricia Tiné (Phil) and Al Tiné (Donna). Adoring grandmother of Logan Jarger and Alexis Gerdelmann. Also survived by her loving & dedicated service dog Bessie and many nieces & nephews.
Brenda’s medical battles began at the young age of 13 as she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and had her life saving experimental chemo at Sloan Kettering and prosthetic surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery. Over the next 6 years she beat cancer 3 more times. While battling cancer, she was able to graduate from high school & college, began her teaching career, and met her husband and best friend.
Brenda was an elementary school teacher for 27 years. She taught 2nd grade and then was a math interventionist at Loring-Flemming Elementary School. Brenda adored Disney’s Pluto and would include him in her daily classroom activities. Over the years, Brenda established a large collection of Pluto knick-knacks and figurines. Brenda was a longtime volunteer in the Catholic Church community as she taught preschool for Holy Savior Parish and was a Eucharistic minister. Brenda "briefly took a break” from her career and activities in 1998 and received her heart transplant on October 14, 1999 (“her second birthday,”) at University of Pennsylvania, and resumed her active lifestyle with grace and tenacity. Brenda dealt with many other health issues over the years, but she didn’t let them slow her down and continued to be the example of strength and courage we were all blessed to witness.
When Brenda wasn’t busy being a teacher, mother, volunteer, and office manager, you could find her behind the camera at family events, miniature golfing, or bowling with her league at Baker Lanes and Playdrome. In her downtime, you could find her watching Start Trek, M*A*S*H, The Wizard of Oz, and any classic shows on MeTv. You’d also find her playing Words with Friends and working hard to get to level 13,662 in CandyCrush.
There are too many accomplishments and battles to list that Brenda experienced. We would like everyone to know that she left this world full of love for the many valued medical support staff who were another family to her, her wonderful friends, and loving family.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Saturday, December 21st from 10 AM – 12 PM at Jackson Funeral Home, 308 Haddon Ave., Haddon Twp., NJ where her Memorial Service will follow at 12 PM.
Interment will be private.
