Barry Walter

Barry passed away surrounded by family, on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the age of 77, of Haddon Township, NJ.

Beloved husband of 41 years to Johanna (nee Kite); devoted father of Lindsay Alvarado (Roger) of Hopewell, NJ; loving grandfather of Annabel and Abigail; also survived by brothers Brian Walter (Davann) of Atlanta, GA, Craig Walter (Patti) of Colorado Springs, CO and sister Karen Zhuravleva Walter of Brooklyn, NY.  Loving son of the late Kathleen (nee Bastedo) and Richard Walter.

Barry traveled the world with his family as a child and spent time living in The Canary Islands and Malta.  He graduated from Haddonfield Memorial High School and American University in Washington, D.C. where he majored in International Studies. Barry worked for NJ Transit for 33 years before retiring in 2020.

In his younger years, Barry enjoyed playing soccer. He was a remarkable story teller and avid reader. Known as Pop Pop by his granddaughters, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix.

Funeral services will be private.
