Barbara “Bobbie Ann” Swain (nee Fagley), formerly of Oaklyn, NJ. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Swain Sr., of 64 years, 5 children; Robert Jr. (Theresa), Michael (Barbara), Colleen Marchetti (Harry), Kathleen Lawlor (John), Kelly Swain-Ailtmar (Mark); 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, her sister, Darlene Walter, sister-in-law, Nancy Lista and nieces and nephew.
Bobbie Ann attended West Catholic Girls High School, Phila., PA. She served 3 years in the United States Marine Corps and was a Chapel of Four Chaplains inductee. She was active with Special Olympics for over 40 years. In 1992 became a Charter Member of the 1775 Detachment Marine Corps League and through the years served as their Commandant and Paymaster along with serving as Membership Chairperson. She also was a Pound Keeper and Paymaster of the Military Order of Devil Dogs (M.O.D.D.), as well as Northeast Division Vice Chief Devil Dog at the national level.
Bobbie Ann was a former member of the Oaklyn Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. During that time, she became Mrs. Claus alongside her beloved Santa “Bob” for over 24 years. She also was a member of the Military Support Group of South Jersey, Yellow Ribbon Program, Marine Corps League Rose Program, Toys-for-Tots and volunteered at the Vineland Veterans Home.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing, Sunday, September 20th from 6 – 8 PM at Jackson Funeral Home, 308 Haddon Ave., Haddon Township, NJ, and a visitation on Monday, September 21st from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish St. Vincent Pallotti Church, 901 Hopkins Rd, Haddon Township, NJ, where her funeral mass will begin 11 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers please send donations to either of the following, 1775 Detachment Marine Corps League, 705 Newton Avenue, Oaklyn, NJ 08107 or Samaritan Center at Voorhees, 265 S.
