Arline M. Barski

Arline Marie Barski, of Westmont, New Jersey, passed peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the age of 93. Daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Brushkoski, Arline was born in Luzerne County, PA on December 10, 1931. 

The oldest of three daughters, Arline spent her early years in Nanticoke where she met the love her life, Stanley Barski, in the summer of 1949. After Stan was discharged from the Navy in July 1952, Arline and Stan married in August and relocated to Camden, New Jersey. There they began their life together, buying their first home in South Camden. As their family continued to grow, they later moved to their home in Westmont, where Arline lived for 65 years. Arline and Stan had seven children. Arline was a long-time member of Holy Saviour Church. She served as president of the PTA for the Holy Saviour Grade School and was a member of the Marion Guild and the Choir. Always one for a good time, Arline was a member of many social groups, including the Holy Saviour Seniors Group, the Jetsetters, and the Haddon Township Seniors Group where she served as a secretary. Arline worked at JCPenney for twenty years before she retired. Arline was a gifted quilter, making several quilts with a group of fellow quilters, and she made quite a few for her children, grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. Receiving one of Arline’s quilts was a treasured gift. She was a fan of a good game of cards and played cards with a group of women for years. Arline was taught at an early age always to have food prepared to offer any guests who might happen to drop by. She frequently would have large family gatherings where she would cook delicious meals, and the house would be filled with laughter and joy. Arline loved a good conversation, and she always had a place for company to spend the night. 

Arline is survived by her children, Mary Courage and her husband Chris, Catherine Penacoli and her late husband Paul, Jean Crossman and her husband William, Edward Barski and his wife Joan, Ellen Callahan and her husband James, John Barski and his wife Beth, and the late Thomas Barski; eighteen grandchildren: William (Tina), Tracey (Jim), Chelsea (Andy), Randal (Jan), Henri (Erica), Joseph (Annie), Edward (Melissa), Paul Michael (Tifany), Jennifer (Andrew), Miriam (R.J.), Amy (Matthew), James, Jr., Henry (Obasi), Preston (Lorine), Makenzie (Steven), Brian (Lynn), Dorothy, and the late Austin; nineteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters Phyllis Balberchak and Carol Rehn.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Tuesday, Dec. 16th from 9:30 – 10:45 AM at the Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Holy Saviour Church, 50 Emerald Ave., Westmont, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM.
