Alice Pickering

(Nee Smekens) age 91, of Marlton, NJ.

Beloved wife of the late Morton Pickering. Loving mother of William and his wife Eileen, of Ocean City, Maryann Vecchio, and her husband Larry, of Haddon Township. Proud grandmother of William Pickering (Becky), Kimberly Bowers, Melissa Pickering, Thomas Vecchio (Alexandra), Stephen Vecchio, Teddy Pickering and Amanda Pickering. Great grandmother of Brittany, Billy, Brandi, Sage, Kai, Gemma and Owen.

Alice was born in Antwerp, Belgium in 1926.  She met and married her husband during World War II while he was a GI stationed in Antwerp, then came to the US in 1946.  She loved all things Belgian and travelled there often.  She loved to cook, bake, knit & crochet, doing crossword and crytoquote puzzles.  Alice was a long-time employee of Tavistock Country Club and later the proprietor of Lodge Travel in Haddonfield.

Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation Thursday from 10 AM to 12 PM at JACKSON FUNERAL HOME, 308 Haddon Ave., Haddon Township, NJ, where funeral services will follow at 12 PM.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Alice’s memory may be made to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053.
