Albert M. Dart "Al"

May 15, 1926 — January 16, 2018

Age 91 of Haddon Township, NJ, passed away peacefully with family by his side, on January 16, 2018 after a brief illness.

Beloved husband of the late Betty E. (Nee Vanderhoof). Loving father of Nancy Orlando of Willistown Twp, PA and Albert "Skip" Dart of Lawrenceville, GA. Proud grandfather of Alex Dart and Matthew Dart. Great grandfather of Devin Dart.  Devoted uncle to his niece and two nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister Mary Black, Nephew Paul Black, and Brother-in-law Ed Iverson, Sr.

Born in Pascoag, Rhode Island, Al was the son of the late, Albert Edward Dart and Irene McMillian Moore, and grew up in the Schenectady, NY.  Rather than be drafted, at age 18 he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force and served for three years during World War II.  Al spent his entire 38+ year career working for General Electric in the Quality Control field.  He worked with the U.S. Navy on destroyers and nuclear powered submarines and in the Tri-state area of PA, NJ & DE at many of the area nuclear power plants.  He always joked and said he "glowed at night”, and “helped keep the lights on". He was a loving father and husband and provided a nice life for his family.  He enjoyed a 30 year retirement and kept busy with several hobbies.  Anyone that knew Al knows how much he was into the weather. He loved watching and was pretty accurate at forecasting the weather. He enjoyed talking with people and could easily discuss just about any topic. He also enjoyed watching the NBC Evening News with Lester Holt, 60 Minutes, CBS Sunday Morning, PBS, Price Is Right, and Wheel of Fortune.  Al was an avid gardener, and took great care of his rose bushes and enjoyed raising daylilies as well.  He was a voracious reader of The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, etc. and always saved articles of personal interest for his children.  Al's family is grateful to the ER, ICU, PCU staff members and Chaplain at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Camden, NJ for the excellent medical, kind pastoral care and family support of Al.

Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Friday, Feb. 9 th from 10 to 11 AM at JACKSON FUNERAL HOME, 308 Haddon Avenue, Haddon Township, NJ, followed by funeral services at 11 AM.

A gathering will then occur 1 PM at Saint Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, 689 Sugartown Road, Malvern, PA 19355, where services and interment will follow.
