Our beloved mother, Agnes Marie Chapman, a longtime resident of Barrington, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 3, 2018, at the age of 97.
Agnes was born October 23, 1921, in Philadelphia, one of ten children to Helen and Thomas Lacey. Her parents were faithful Catholics, and Agnes carried that faith throughout her life, always believing in the power of prayer. She graduated from Little Flower HS, Class of 1941, and began a career as a secretary at General Accident Insurance Company. It was there that she met the love of her life, Roland C. Chapman. They married on May 27, 1950, and subsequently moved to Barrington, NJ.
Agnes was a homemaker and a devoted wife, loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put her family first. Agnes was an avid Phillies fan, and in her later years she enjoyed knitting and solving word jumbles, but of all her interests and talents, her family and home were her greatest treasure.
Agnes was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, Lt. Col. USMC (Ret) Roland C. Chapman, and her nine siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mike Chapman of Barrington, Thomas Chapman (Julie) of Georgia, Helen Pindziak (Charles) of Florida and Patrick Chapman (Joan) of Sewell; her grandchildren Jonathan Chapman (Alexandria), Lacey Chapman, Michael Chapman (Laura), Lauren Chapman, Thomas Chapman (Ashley), Ross Chapman, Brian Chapman, Shawn Chapman (Bittina), and Charlie Pindziak; her great grandchildren Kallen, Titus, Riley, Sawyer, Griffin, and Ryder Chapman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, December 10th 10:30 at St. Rose of Lima Church, 300 Kings Hwy., Haddon Heights, NJ 08035. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Blackwood, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations are respectfully requested in her memory to be made to
