Charles Richard Wahl

February 17, 1937 — February 19, 2017

Charles Richard Wahl, age 80, passed away in his home at Sailfish Point in Stuart, Florida on February 19, 2017. He formerly lived in Medford and Long Beach Island, NJ. Dick is survived by his loving wife Patricia Wahl, his devoted daughters Lesley Colis, Amy Foley, Kristine Tranfalia and his step daughter Keri McDonough. He will be missed by his five beautiful grandchildren, Emma, Ethan and Leah Tranfalia along with Colin and Ryan Foley. In addition, he has two remaining son in laws Jamison Tranfalia and Michael Colis, Sr.

Dick grew up in Roselle and Bernardsville, N.J. where he graduated High School. He then enlisted in the Marine Corps and served on various bases. After the Marines he graduated from Gettysburg College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. This led to New York University’s MBA program. Upon graduation from NYU he worked for E I DuPont for 3 years. Dick then joined John Maneely and Related Companies, where he spent the next 35 years, eventually becoming President and CEO.

In his lifetime, Dick volunteered his time with many nonprofit organizations. He was President of; The Financial Executives Institute (Philadelphia Chapter), Centennial Pines Club, YMCA Camp Ockanickon and 2001 Condo Association at Sailfish Point. The Camp Ockanikon experience was particularly challenging as the camp experienced a 1,000 year flood during his tenure. The flood wiped out the camps main asset—its lakes.

Dick took part in many activities and kept busy, with his family and friends in Florida and New Jersey, he was a member of various country clubs. Memberships included; Seaview, Medford Village, Laurel Creek and Sailfish Point. An avid golfer, Dick won many local tournaments, and he travelled to play on the world’s best golf courses. He resided by lakes and oceans and could often be found swimming or boating. Tennis was a game that Dick excelled at. He was loyal to the Philadelphia sports teams, attending many games, or watching on television from Florida. Stamp collecting and reading were quiet activities Dick appreciated from youth into later life. He loved to travel with friends or family, Dick travelled throughout America and spent many vacations overseas. He especially enjoyed researching his ancestry and took two trips to Germany to find out more about the family origins.

A celebration of Dick Wahl’s life will be held at Jackson Funeral Home, 308 Haddon Ave, Haddon Township, NJ 08108, on March 11th, gathering of family and friends 3:45 to 4:30 PM and service to follow at 4:30 PM.
