Margaret H. Steinhagen

(Nee Gallagher) Passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the age of 98, of Woodbury, formerly of Westmont.

She was born July 3, 1918 in Moorestown, NJ to Henry & Helene (Nellie) Gallagher (nee Call).  She was the last surviving member of the Gallagher family.  Margaret was predeceased in death by her parents, her brothers Leo, John, Tom, Henry, Raymond and sister Grace.

She was always proud of her Irish decent and was a devout Catholic.  Margaret was a breast cancer survivor for over 25 years.  She graduated from Our Lady of Good Council in Moorestown and also Moorestown High School Class of 1937.  While her husband was serving in the Army during WWII in the Pacific, she was always proud of working at Tilton General Hospital attached to Fort Dix Army Base.  She was also assigned to Fort Dix Army Hospital.

Margaret attended Camden Commercial School and worked at Heimback’s in Camden, where she met her future husband.

She is survived by her sons Joseph, Edmund, James, and Raymond, and daughters Helene and Margaret.  She is also the loving grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 12.

Margaret would often tell her children and grandchildren she knew exactly where she was on December 7, 1941.  She enjoyed life and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Margaret will be missed by her entire family as she is united with her beloved husband and son Paul.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Thursday, January 26 ^th from 9:30 – 10:45 AM at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish HOLY SAVIOUR CHURCH, 50 Emerald Ave., Westmont, NJ 08108. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.  Interment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
