Jane Marie Koehler

June 18, 1923 — April 13, 2006

Jane Marie (nee Cuputi), age 82, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 13, 2006, after a brief illness. A resident now of Pilesgrove, Salem County, NJ, she had lived for more than 60 years in Camden County and grew up in Merchantville, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Bertha and Peter Caputi.

Jane was a graduate of Merchantville High School and of Trenton State Teacher's College, educated to instruct youngsters in a profession she seemed destined to assume. For most of her life she was also a most competent and beloved Church School teacher. She was at heart a giver and a helper and -in so many words- regarded by her many friends as a "classy lady" who could dine comfortably with leading government officials or join her husband at the table with stars of television and radio, as well as enjoy or entertain her Sunday School classes as she did for over forty years.

In World War II she contributed as she could while her husband served as a bomber pilot over Europe. The couple was married in a ten minute ceremony in Tampa, Fl, and was separated five weeks later when her husband was deployed for action overseas. The couple marked 62 years or marriage in February of this year.

Jane is survived by her deeply loving husband George A. Koehler, of Pilesgrove, NJ, where the couple lived for the last 20 years. Her son Eric G. Koehler lives with his wife Linda in Avon, OH; Jane's son Gary S. Koehler and his wife Margo are long time residents of Salem County; Jane's granddaughter Kristin is a resident of Rocky River, OH and Kristin's finac`e Jim Rice is from Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Jane's grandson Ethan Koehler lives in New York City with his wife Margaret. Nieces Maryann (Caputi) Kulick and Jane (Caputi) Murphy are also Camden County residents.

A private family service will be held at 10:00 AM at the Jackson Funeral Home in Westmont, NJ, on Saturday, April 15, with interment at Harleigh Cemetery Mausoleum, Camden, to follow.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, April 17, at the Hardingville Bible Church, 284 Whig Lane, In Monroeville, NJ 08343, where Jane has attended for a number of years. A period of visitation when friends may call will be held at the church at 10 AM, with the Memorial Service to follow at 11 AM. A light luncheon will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hardingville Bible Church or the Woodstown Rotary Foundation. For directions to the church log onto hardingville.com
