Helen Marie Canaris

(Nee Wheaton) Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with lung cancer on August 14, 2016, age 90, of Collingswood, NJ, formerly of Pennsauken, NJ.

Beloved wife of 56 years to the late Constantine (Connie) Canaris. Loving mother of Marc Canaris, Michael Canaris and his wife Regina and mother-in-law of the late Marie Canaris. Dear grandmother of Michael M. Canaris, PhD of Chicago. She is also survived by her devoted extended family Erika, Lynda, Bryan, James, Calista, sister-in-law Louise Cherill, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Helen was a graduate of Cooper Hospital School of Nursing in 1947; she was employed by Cooper Hospital as a registered nurse, and then worked 35 years for Dr’s. Barbell in Camden and Pennsauken. She enjoyed cooking, laughing, and travel, including countless trips to Ocean City, NJ and especially Wheaton Family Crab Festivals.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend her viewing Thursday from 10 -11:30 AM at the JACKSON FUNERAL HOME, 308 Haddon Ave., Haddon Twp., NJ 08108, followed by her funeral service at 11:30 AM.

Interment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
