Catherine "Kit" Wynne

(Nee Collins) On August 18, 2015, longtime resident of Haddonfield, NJ, formerly of Westmont, NJ.

Wife of the late Bernard Joseph Wynne. Mother of Michael S. Wynne (Jay-Louise Weldon) of Montclair, NJ, Kathleen Carrig (Thomas) of Cherry Hill, NJ and the late Dennis M. Wynne. Grandmother of Dennis Carrig, Brian Wynne, and David Wynne (Danny Krueger). Also survived by 10 nieces & nephews and numerous grand and great-grand nieces & nephews.

Catherine lived to be 102 and died of natural causes. She was the oldest child of George and Margaret (Dempsey) Collins and was predeceased by her siblings Margaret (West), George and Edna. She grew up in Camden where she became the family breadwinner at 13 when her father died suddenly. She met her husband, Bern, while working as a bookkeeper in Philadelphia. They married in 1941 and settled in South Jersey, first in Audubon and then in Westmont. A devoted Catholic, she was very involved with Holy Savior parish in Westmont, especially during her children’s schooling there. As a volunteer she helped found both the Martin Luther King Jr Day Care Center and the Cathedral Kitchen in Camden. While raising her family she was a part-time bookkeeper for several area auto dealerships. She is remembered dearly by her family and friends as a very warm, friendly and caring person, unusually selfless and very concerned about the needs of others.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, August 29 from 10 to 11 AM at CHRIST THE KING Church, 200 Windsor Ave., Haddonfield, NJ 08033.

A Funeral Mass for Catherine and her sister Edna Collins will be celebrated at 11 AM.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Catherine’s name be made to the Cathedral Kitchen, 1514 Federal St., Camden, NJ 08105 or Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement Graymoor, 41 Old Highland Turnpike, Garrison, NY 10524.
