(Nee Long) Age 89 of West Palm Beach, FL, formerly of Haddon Township, NJ. Known by her closest friends as “Blackie” and by her family as “Sis”, passed peacefully at home in West Palm Beach, FL on July 26, 2014.
Born on October 2, 1924, in Camden, NJ, Florence was the youngest child of Emma and William Long. She lived in Haddon Township most of her adult life and dedicated her professional life to the residents of Haddon Township.
She was Township Clerk of Haddon Township for 27 years before retiring in 1988. During that time, she also served as Township Treasurer and Custodian of School Monies for the Board of Education. Florence was the Township Clerk, under the Honorable William G. Rohrer and William J. Park. Upon retirement, she served on the board for the Senior Citizen's Housing Authority of Haddon Township.
For the past 15 years, Florence has been a full time resident in West Palm Beach and is survived by her son, James and his family of Palm City, FL.
