On August 30, 2008, Age 84, of Westmont, NJ. Beloved husband of Jane F. (Nee Hearn). Devoted father of Dr. Janet L. Huggens of Boyertown, PA and David E. Clark of Collingswood, NJ. Dear sister of Virginia R. Earney of Audubon, NJ and Doris J. Tuttle of Baltimore, MD. Loving Grandfather of Chelsea Elyse & Colleen Elizabeth Huggens. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Earl was a WWII Army Veteran with the 40th Combat Engineers serving for 567 combat days earning 7 Battle Stars and 2 Bronze Arrow Heads. He was an honoree of the Chapel of the Four Chaplains and was a member of VFW Post # 713. He was employed by PRSL/Conrail for 36 years and as a Train Master. Earl was a member of the Westmont Fire Company No. 1 for 58 years as a fireman, and served as EMS Captain for 25 yrs. with Westmont Ambulance. He was a Past Master & 60 yr. member of Haddonfield/Cherry Hill Masonic Lodge # 15 F&AM, Past Patron Haddonfield Chapter OES # 140, Past Patron Athene Chapter OES # 201. He was a 60 year member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon # 15, a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason at the Excelsior Consistory and a member of Crescent Temple Shrine. He served with the Boy Scouts where he earned the Order of the Arrow and was the Past Chair of Cub Scout Pack #179. Earl was an active member of the Grace Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM with Masonic Services at 8 PM and Friday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 AM all at the Grace Baptist Church, 23 Reeve Ave., Westmont, NJ, 08108 where funeral services will follow at 11 AM. Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers contributions in Earl’s memory may be made to the Westmont Fire Company No. 1, 120 Haddon Ave., the Grace Baptist Memorial Fund, Westmont, NJ 08108 or the Wesley UMC, 400 Route 610, Petersburg, NJ 08270.
