On August 4, 2013, Age 68, of Haddon Township, passed away of a cardiac event. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah H. and Gilbert M. McCormick, and brother Gilbert. He is survived by Ryan (Rebecca) and Kevin (Melissa), his two sons, and Elizabeth Straub McCormick. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Connor, Jackson, Cameron and Maren. He will be deeply missed by many. He was a graduate of Sunbury High School, Bloomsburg University, and the University of Pittsburgh where he earned two Masters Degrees. He began his career as the youngest Assistant Dean of Men in the country at Lycoming College, Williamsport, PA, where two graduating classes dedicated their yearbooks to him. Throughout his career, he received many other awards recognizing his caring and dedication to the students and faculty with whom he worked. He married Lycoming graduate Elizabeth Straub, and shortly thereafter became Dean of Men and Director of Financial Aid at Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, PA. During his tenure at Susquehanna he was elected President of PASFAA. He then moved to Williamsburg, VA where he was Director of Financial Aid at The College of William and Mary. This led to a position as Director of Financial Aid Services at The College Board in Philadelphia. He traveled extensively in this role, and was well-respected by his colleagues for his public speaking abilities. For the three years before he retired he was the guidance counselor for Springfield High School, PA. He loved being with his family and grandchildren, and had a special bond with his sons. Edward’s charm and humor were legendary, and he was an artful conversationalist sought out by friends at parties. He enjoyed gardening and nature, music, swimming, and was an avid reader. He possessed a rare charisma and thoughtful presence that his friends and family will long remember, cherish, and miss dearly. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, August 11th at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 499 Route 70 East, Cherry Hill, NJ.
