Entered into eternal peace at Samaritan Inpatient Hospice Center at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly, NJ on April 15, 2013, age 41, of Collingswood, NJ. Joyce was born in Bombay, India on August 29, 1971, daughter of Lily Pinto of Collingswood, NJ and the late Alex Pinto, formerly of Mangalore, India. She married Milton J. Fernandes in May, 1999 after 11 years of courtship. They welcomed their daughter Francine Maria in July, 2006. Joyce began her Nursing career in 1989 at Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai, India. She completed her BSN in 1998 from Saint John Medical College, Bangalore, India. She emigrated to the United States in 2005 and continued as an ICU Nurse at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, NJ. Joyce was a strong, faith-filled member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Collingswood, NJ. She lived her faith as a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend on a day-to-day basis. Her life was a beautiful example of Christian values. She leaves her beautiful memories to be cherished by her loving husband Milton, daughter Francine, mother Lily, mother-in-law Natty, father-in-law Ciriaco sisters and brothers-in law, Precy & Edward D’Souza of Haddon Twp, Gracy & Rolland Coutinho of Haddon Twp, Nancy & Harry Crasto of Dubai, UAE, and brother Roshan & Anita Pinto of Mumbai, India and Monica & Allen Sequeira of Perry Hall, MD. She is survived by numerous adoring nieces, Ramona, Giselle, Theresa, Andrea, Nicole, and Thea, and nephews, Reuben, Alex, Aaron, and Dominic. She is also survived by her husband Milton’s siblings, Max & Umalina Fernandes of Mumbai, India, Mark & Sicletica of Dubai, UAE, Elvis & Christine of Adelaide, Australia. She is survived by Milton’s nieces and nephew, Marrissa, Gwen and Dwayne.
Her life will be celebrated with a viewing at JACKSON FUNERAL HOME, 308 Haddon Ave, Haddon Township, NJ, Thursday from 7 to 9 PM and Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish ST. JOHNS CHURCH, 809 Park Avenue, Collingswood NJ. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited for a reception to be held at the Good Shepherd School Cafeteria at 2 pm.
