Carl L. Rugart, Jr.

On Sunday, March 17, 2013, age 88, of Severna Park, MD, formally a long time resident of Westmont, NJ, beloved husband of the late Helen M. Rugart (nee Ovens), loving father of Sandra R. Howe (Brant), Arnold, MD. Devoted grandfather of Jessica Grace Rugart Howe. He is survived by sisters Barbara Roszel (Howard), Milton, DE and Lois Abood (Emil), Sewell, NJ. Mr. Rugart was a 1941 graduate of Collingswood NJ High School and a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the Signal Corp. attached to the 10th Air Force, and was stationed in India and Burma of the C.B.I. Theater in WW II. His career with the Pennsylvania Railroad spanned more than 41 years, retiring as Manager, Financing Plans. He has been a trustee of the J. Edgar Thomson Foundation since 1971 until the present. Carl and his wife were longtime members of Grace Baptist Church, Westmont, NJ. He served on numerous committees and boards over the years, and was chairman of the building committee for the new church in 1969. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday, March 22, 2013 from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the Grace Baptist Church, 25 Reeve Avenue, Westmont, NJ 08108 followed by the memorial service at 11:00 AM. Interment Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, Cinnaminson, NJ. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions be made in his memory to Grace Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
